2019 AFCON: Nigeria prepare to face Tunisia

Tunisia and Nigeria have been gearing up for the 3rd place match at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Both team, who suffered heart-breaking semi-final defeats at the tournament, will line up on Wednesday at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo. The 3-time champions, Nigeria, had a tough road to the semis, as they defeated the defending champions, Cameroon in last 16, and then, South Africa in the quarterfinals.

But, the Super Eagles suffered a 2-1 loss against Algeria, who have been arguably the best team in the tournament so far this year.

On the other side, Tunisia had a shaky start to the event, as they moved to the knockout stages with 3 draws. However, they gradually got better, managing to edge-out Ghana on penalties and then beat surprise quarter-finalists Madagascar 3-nil.

The Tunisians, who won the title in 2004 at home, endured a bitter defeat against Senegal in the semis, with a bizarre own goal in extra-time that ended their title hopes.
