Greece: Emergency declared after deadly storm hits resorts

Greece declared a state of emergency after a storm in the Halkidiki peninsula killed six tourists and injured dozens more on Wednesday.

Local media report that a Romanian woman and an 8-year-old boy were killed after a restaurant's roof collapsed in Nea Plagia while a Russian man and a young boy died after a tree fell near their hotel in Potidea. The other two victims were two elderly Czech tourists whose trailer was swept away by strong winds.

The storm reportedly lasted only for 20 minutes but caused extensive damage which is now being assessed by the government and businesses.
