2019 AFCON: Nigeria 2-1 South Africa

Nigeria have sneaked into the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals after a last-gasp goal gave them a 2-1 win over South Africa.

Samuel Chukwueze put Nigeria in front at Cairo International Stadium when he scored at the second attempt in the 27th minute. The Super Eagles stayed in control, missed chances and paid the price when Bongani Zungu headed in the equalizer in the 71st minute with South Africa's first shot on target.

The goal was initially ruled offside but later awarded after a VAR check. But then, William Troost Ekong turned the ball in with his knee from a corner a minute from time to set three-time champions Nigeria up with a last-four meeting with Algeria or Ivory Coast.

Earlier in the day, Senegal reached the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals for the first time since 2006 when Idrissa Gueye scored to deliver a 1-nil last-eight win over Benin in Cairo.
