Wimbledon: Nadal stuns Sugita
World Number two, Rafael Nadal has advanced to the second round after stunning Japan’s Yuichi Sugita three sets to love.
The Spaniard did not play a match since claiming his 12th French Open title last month and it seemed that he had little trouble to switch from clay to grass.
The 18-time grand slam champion made light work to win the first set 6-3. He kept the momentum in the next two sets and finished them 6-1 and 6-3 respectively.
The King of Clay will meet next Nick Kyrgios of Australia who defeated his countryman Jordan Thompson three sets to two in a battle lasting three hours and 26 minutes.
