Looking over Africa Cup of Nations, Host Nation Egypt have made sure of progress from the group stage after defeating the Democratic Republic of the Congo 2-nil.
Ahmed Elmohamady opened the scoring for the Pharaohs midway through the first half after pouncing on a loose ball in the area. The hosts doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime when Mohamed Salah found the bottom right corner with a powerful strike after a fast break by Trezeguet. The win took Egypt to 6 points from two games in Group A and confirmed their qualification for the last 16.
Earlier in Group A, Zimbabwe and Uganda played out a 1-all draw. Uganda, who had posted a surprise 2-nil win over Democratic Republic of the Congo in their first game, took the lead when Emmanuel Okwi exploited a rebound in the 12th minute in Cairo.
However, Khama Billiat brought Zimbabwe level with a glancing finish just before half-time. Uganda have four points from two games in Group A with Zimbabwe, who were beaten 1-nil by Egypt in their first game, on one.
