UN experts present alarming picture of global drug use

The number of people using drugs has risen by 30 percent in less than a decade. In its latest report, the UN office on drugs and crime says drug use caused more than half a million deaths in 2017. Experts are also raising the alarm over a rise in the non-medical use of the painkiller tramadol particularly in the Middle East and North Africa.
