Iran’s downing of intruding US spy drone right move: Analyst

A handout picture released by Iranian State TV on June 21, 2019 shows debris from a downed US spy drone recovered inside its territorial waters, displayed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in Tehran.

Political analyst Ryan Dawson says Iran’s shooting down of a trespassing US spy drone was a move in the right direct, and that any country would do the same thing in the face of such an incursion.

“They [Americans] were spying apparently, according to Iran, at least, inside Iran’s waters, so Iran shot down the drone as any country would,” he said.

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced on Thursday that its air defense force had shot down a sophisticated RQ-4 Global Hawk after the American surveillance aircraft violated Iranian airspace despite several warnings.

Tehran later released the coordinates that show the spy drone had been brought down within the Islamic Republic’s territorial waters.
