Syrian refugee turns his room into Dutch dictionary

Hassan Fakhane is an innovative Syrian refugee who has come up with a new way to speed up his Dutch learning process, plastering every newly learned word at every corner of his room to breathe the language.

Hassan says the idea came when he was lying on the bed and thinking how he could improve his learning. After starting the new method, he says he won't stop anymore.

The war in Syria has forced many people to seek safety elsewhere since 2011.

At the height of the refugee crisis in 2015, when the war dominated the news, the Netherlands took about 60,000 refugees.

Fakhane arrived in the Netherlands in 2016 after spending six months in a refugee camp in Turkey.

Even though he has passed his Dutch language exam, he still uses his creative method to continue to broaden his knowledge.
