India is hitting the United States with more tariffs, some as high as 70%. The move is seen as a retaliatory response to Washington's refusal to exempt New Delhi from higher taxes on steel and aluminum imports.
Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump announced that India would lose its trade privileges with his country as a beneficiary of the Generalized System of Preferences. Embracing 28 U.S. products including apples, almonds, and walnuts, Indias new tariffs will likely hurt US exporters of agricultural goods.
