EU's disciplinary action against Italy moving closer

Italy’s deputy prime ministers Matteo Salvini and Luigi Di Maio have reiterated their opposition to any belt-tightening measures demanded by the European Union over Rome’s worsening public finances. This is while the Eurogroup's Economic and Financial Committee has joined the European Commission in saying Italy has broken debt and deficit rules and must take action to right its accounts.
