Iran Leader remarks

Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has urged Muslim countries to band together against the Israeli regime. Ayatollah Khamenei warned against the enemies’ machinations to pit Muslims against one another. He criticized some Islamic countries for making compromise with Israel, reiterating that the Palestinian cause is the most pressing issue of the Muslim world. Iran’s leader urged Palestinians to press ahead with their struggle until they overcome the Israeli occupation. He made the comments in a meeting with Iranian officials and people as well as ambassadors from Muslim countries. Earlier, Iran’s leader said the so-called Deal of the Century initiated by the US on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will never be implemented.

Eid al-Fitr celebrations

Muslims across the world are celebrating Eid al-Fitr that marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. Hundreds of thousands of worshippers are marking the event in India, Indonesia and parts of Pakistan. Muslims in the Sri Lankan capital that witnessed deadly bombings in April attended the Eid prayers under tight security. In Syria, President Bashar al-Assad performed the prayers at a mosque in the capital Damascus. Iranians have also joined other nations to celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

North Korea US warning

North Korea has warned the United States not to try Pyongyang’s patience. In a statement, the North Korean foreign ministry warned the US that agreements made between the two countries in Singapore last year could be at risk. It slammed Washington for only insisting on the unilateral surrender of Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons. The statement also condemned Washington’s military buildup around the Korean Peninsula. The comments came after North Korea rejected fresh negotiations with Washington last month. Pyongyang says nuclear talks won’t resume unless the US abandons unilateral disarmament demands.

France rights violations

A leading human rights organization has accused France of harassing, intimidating and assaulting people offering aid to migrants. Amnesty international said the French authorities deliberately want to discourage those who help the migrants and curtail acts of solidarity. Amnesty revealed that providing food to the hungry and warmth to the homeless have become increasingly risky in France. It also said activists have experienced insomnia, stress and anxiety. The rights body added that the migrants are facing evictions, harassment, and violence at the hands of French police.

Sudan unrest

Sudanese Security forces have set the protesters’ camp on fire in the capital Khartoum. Soldiers also fired tear gas to disperse the demonstrators. Earlier, opposition groups spearheading the protest rallies rejected the ruling military council’s invitation to dialog. They said the military junta cannot be trusted because it strikes fear into the hearts of civilians. That after the ruling military council said it is open to talk with the opposition groups without any conditions. Meanwhile, the opposition groups say they have recovered 40 bodies from the River Nile. They say the bodies were among the 100 people killed following the army’s crackdown on a sit-in in the capital on Monday. The ruling military council has described the raid as sorrowful and unfortunate, saying necessary legal measures will be taken to avoid similar incidents.
