European project still alive

Results from the European Parliament elections has triggered a new phase for the European parliament. Far-right parties and the Greens have scored considerable gains in the polls.

In France, Marine Le Pen's National Rally party edged ahead of the centrist alliance of President Emmanuel Macron. Marine Le Pen had the advantage of the Yellow Vest Movement to make her case. Weeks of protests organized by the Yellow Vest movement which was motivated by rising fuel prices and high costs of living was the vehicle she needed to make the case against the EU and the French president.

In Italy, Matteo Salvini anti-migrant League party won the most votes in Sunday's European elections marking a historic success for the far-right. Meanwhile in Britain, the anti-EU party of Nigel Farage gained 9 out of 12 regions. In the end, his Brexit party won over 30 percent of the votes.
