European Union Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has reiterated that terms o Britain’s withdrawal from the bloc would not be renegotiated with a change in leadership in London.

“I was crystal clear. There will be no renegotiation,” said Juncker at an EU summit in Brussels on Tuesday.

The comments come ahead a of a late July vote in Britain’s ruling Conservative Party to name a new leader who could replace outgoing Prime Minster Theresa may.

A deal signed between May’s government and the EU in November has failed to pass the British parliament on three occasions.

EU’s refusal to renegotiate terms of Brexit has caused many to believe that Britain, under the leadership of an eurosceptic prime minister, would leave the bloc at the end of October in a disorderly manner and without an agreement to cushion the economic impacts of a sudden withdrawal.

Boris Johsnon, the favorite Tory lawmaker to replace May, said last week that Britain would leave the EU on October 31 with or without a deal. Johnson and other leadership candidates have vowed they would take a tough line against the EU in the hope they could secure a better divorce agreement.

That comes as the opposition Labour Party has vowed they would do everything they can to block a no-deal Brexit.

Arriving in Brussels on Tuesday, May expressed deep regret that he had failed to go through the British parliament with her controversial Brexit deal.

“It’s a matter of great regret to me that I haven’t been able to deliver Brexit,” May said, adding, “That matter is now for my successor and they will have to find a way of addressing the very strongly held views on both sides of this issue.”
