India, over 1.37 billion people, one of a kind culture, food, and of course economy. No wonder it feels like a whole another world down there, with population this big, being a leader is one challenging job.

Choosing a leader is quiet difficult too. Now that the elections are underway across the country, people are casting their ballot, hoping for a better future. Many of them believe that so far Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done well.

Modi came to power five years ago and since then India’s economy added one trillion dollar, stepping up to become the 5th largest economy in the world. Modi courted foreign investors, removing several barriers for overseas players in sectors such as manufacturing, retail and aviation. Modi also rolled out a new goods and services tax which helped India move up 65 places in the World Bank’s ranking on ease of doing business.

However, there are people who believe Modi shoud not take all the credit. Modi came into power in 2014 with promises of overhauling the economy and creating millions of jobs. He said he would reverse a decade of jobless growth under the previous government. But apparently, making money doesn’t mean you created jobs as well. Records show that he mainly created disappointment.
