The CIA and foreign security services have warned friends and colleagues of Jamal Khashoggi about new threats from Saudi Arabia.

Three of those who were given security briefings in recent weeks––Iyad el-Baghdadi of Oslo, Norway; Omar Abdulaziz of Montreal, Canada; and a person in the US who asked not to be named––were working closely with Khashoggi.

They are all renowned for their social media activism. They are also vocal and influential critics of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist and a US resident, was killed by Saudi agents last year inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
