Frenchman Fabio Quartararo has snatched the first MotoGP pole position of his career, leading a Petronas Yamaha one- two at the Jerez circuit in Spain.
At 20 years and 14 days old, Quartararo became the youngest rider ever to take pole in MotoGP, after posting a blistering time of one minute and 36.88 seconds, setting a new record for the fastest lap in Jerez.
Quartararo's Italian teammate Franco Morbidelli was 0.082 seconds behind, while reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez of Honda was 0.09 seconds slower than the leader.
