Biden trying to hide lifetime of serving corporations by calling for Trump impeachment: Analyst

Myles Hoenig, a political analyst

Former US Vice President Joe Biden, who has entered the race for 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, is to trying avert attention from his lifetime services for big corporations by hyping up controversial such as impeaching President Donald Trump, says an American analyst.

Ever since the beginning of Trump’s presidency in 2017, his Democratic opponents have tried to lay the groundwork for his removal from power using a range of issues from paying hush money to a porn star he has had an affair with to his alleged attempts to obstruct justice in the high-profile federal investigation into his alleged ties with Russia.

Last month, when Special Counsel Robert Mueller handed in the findings of his months-long probe and concluded that there was no evidence of collusion, everybody thought Democrats would shelve the idea of impeaching him.

However, not only the Democrats have challenged the report, Biden has actually made it a key challenge of their campaign.

Biden said in an interview on Tuesday that Democrats would have "no alternative" but to impeach the Republican president if he were to block a congressional investigation into whether he obstructed justice in the Russia probe by firing former FBI Director James Comey.

“Joe Biden’s strategy is a smart one,” Myles Hoenig, a political analyst, told Press TV on Wednesday.

“He comes off as a fighter for the common man, but the reality is that he has fought his whole political life for corporations, the war industry and maintaining white supremacy,” the analyst added.

Hoenig said Biden’s problem with Trump was more personal than anything.

“His campaign is to bypass the Primary and go straight for the jugular, to go after Trump directly, and calling for his impeachment is a winning issue for the base who’ll be voting in the Primary,” he argued.

Hoenig argued that since it was certain that the Republican-led Senate would not support an impeachment bid, Biden stood to lose nothing from such remarks.

“There are other Democratic candidates who are calling for Trump’s impeachment. For those who are senators, they know that the Senate won’t remove him and they won’t experience any retribution from Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House,” he continued.
