NHL: Blue Jackets sweep lightning in Game 4

Looking over Ice Hockey Action,the Columbus Blue Jackets have completed their stunning sweep of the Tampa Bay Lightning with a 7-3 victory in Game 4 of the 1st round in the Eastern Conference.

The Blue Jackets, who'd clinched the 2nd wild card to make it to the playoff series, led 4-3 after 2 periods. In the 3rd period, Columbus scored 3 goals in less than 2 minutes to seal their spot in the 2nd round.

This was their 1st playoff series victory and so the Blue Jackets have become the 1st team to sweep a Presidents' Trophy winner in the 1st round. The Blue Jackets play the winner of the Boston-Toronto series, which the Maple Leafs lead 2-1.

The New York Islanders also made it to the 2nd round of the Eastern Conference after defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4. Jake Guentzel scored the opener on a wrist shot after just 35 seconds in the 1st period but their lead did not last long as Jordan Eberle tied it after 94 seconds.

Brock Nelson scored the go-ahead goal for New York and Josh Bailey’s empty netter sealed the 3-1 win for the Islanders with 38 seconds remaining in the 3rd period. They will play the winner of the Washington-Carolina series, which the Capitals lead 2-1.
