Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani says the “ruthless” policies adopted by US President Donald Trump during his term in office have created a tense situation in the world, undermining the global order and international peace.

The top lawmaker made the remarks in a Sunday address to the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) held in the Qatari capital of Doha.

Larijani referred to the US withdrawal from its INF treaty with Russia, its trade war on China and the European countries, its withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement and the Iran nuclear deal, and its ruthless behaviors in Jerusalem al-Quds and the occupied Palestinian territories, and said such behaviors by American statesmen have undermined peace and security in the world.

Larijani also pointed to Washington’s recent decision to recognize the “Israeli sovereignty” over the occupied Golan Heights, and said it is ridiculous to gift part of the Syrian territories to the usurper Zionist regime.

“The abnormal behavior is neither logical nor in compliance with the UN’s decisions and the international legal order,” he said, praising the UN Security Council for being vigilant enough to reject the “cheap” decision.

The Iranian official further referred to the “regrettable” stance of the US toward the recent floods in Iran, and its move to block the delivery of international humanitarian aid to the Iranian Red Crescent Society.

“Just compare the unwise behavior of the US Secretary of State in a humanitarian case with the hypocritical slogans of the US regime,” he said, referring to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s exploitation of the national emergency in Iran to once again attack the Islamic Republic.

In remarks on Tuesday, Pompeo claimed that Tehran's response to the floods showed the level of what he called as "mismanagement in urban planning and in emergency preparedness."

In his Sunday comments, the Iranian parliament speaker also condemned the Israeli regime’s recent aggressions on Al-Aqsa mosque and other holy sites in Jerusalem al-Quds as well as Tel Aviv’s ethnic cleansing and expansionist, anti-human, and illegal measures, describing them as a result of ridiculous American-Israeli shows.

“The two regimes [the US and Israel] have always tried to create bigger challenges and troubles in a bid to do their own business in a destabilized region,” he added.

However, Larijani said, Muslim nations have shown they will never accept policies that serve the interests of the US and Israel.

Iran, Jordan stress Muslim unity against Israel

On the sidelines of the IPU summit in Doha, Larijani held talks with Speaker of Jordan’s House of Representatives Atef Tarawneh, during which the two sides underlined the need to focus on the fate of Palestine as the main issue of the Muslim world.

Larijani said the international atmosphere is totally prepared for the unity of Muslim countries against their main enemy.

The same view was expressed by the Jordanian speaker, who said concerns over the Israeli aggressions on al-Aqsa mosque make it necessary for Muslim states to pay special attention to the issue of Palestine.

Jordan is the official custodian of holy Muslim sites in Jerusalem al-Quds, and is the only Arab country apart from Egypt to have diplomatic relations with the Tel Aviv regime.
