Rodney Shakespeare: Failure of British politics could be unprecedented

Rodney Shakespeare, professor of economics, says potential failure of British politics could be unprecedented regarding the Brexit.

British lawmakers rejected Prime Minister Theresa May’s proposal for Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union by an overwhelming majority in the House of Commons on Tuesday.

Shakespeare told Press TV on Wednesday that the effect of an uncertain withdrawal will be “disruptive.”

He said it might have long-term consequences for Europe "that they do not want us to leave."

“If they (the EU and the UK) don’t come up with something big and specific, there will be a catastrophic failure of British politics on scale which I’ve never seen before.”
