US Senator Bernie Sanders has berated Donald Trump for spreading falsehoods, saying he would bring a lie detector to any debate against him.

Sanders, who announced this month his intention to run again for president in the 2020 elections, called Trump a "pathological liar" last week.

When asked by CNN Town Hall Monday night host, Wolf Blitzer, how he planned to interact with Trump during a possible presidential debate, Sanders responded by saying he would bring a lie detector along with him to the debate .

“We’ll bring a lie detector along, “Sanders said, prompting laughs from the audience. “And every time he lies it goes ‘beep.’ That would be the first thing.”

According to the Hill news site, Sanders continued the talk with a more serious tone, saying he would hold Trump accountable for his promises and actions during his presidency.

“We are going to hold him accountable for what he said and what he did,” Sanders warned.

The liberal lawmaker from Vermont said Trump was a fraud and liar that had to be exposed in public.

“I think the fraud that Trump is, the pathological liar that he is, has to be exposed,” the senator said.

Sanders is just one of many Trump critics who have publicly criticized the US president for lying to the public.
