Mexico: Moment of fatal pipeline explosion

Footage captured the moment of the fatal gas pipeline explosion that caused the deaths of at least 85 people, in Tlahuelilpan on Saturday morning.

People were seen filling gas canisters from the leaking pipeline as it spouted fuel several meters into the air prior to the blast.

The fire and pieces of scalding metal caused severe burns to people in the immediate vicinity of the blast, where cries of help were audible as victims ran in search of relief.

Local residents had been attempting to steal leaking fuel from the pipe when the explosion occurred, according to Hidalgo Governor Omar Fayad.
