Australian Open: Djokovic defeats Shapovalov

Novak Djokovic of Serbia has advanced to round 4 of the Australian Open after defeating Denis Shapovalov 3 sets to 1.

The 14-time Grand Slam Winner stamped his authority by winning the 1st set 6-3. The Serb kept the momentum and won the 2nd set 6-4. However, the tables turned and the young Canadian showed resilience, beating Djokovic 6-4 in the 3rd set.

Then, the world number 1 stormed back and won the 4th set 6-love with absolute power. The reigning Wimbledon and US Open Champion will next meet Daniil Medvedev of Russia, who beat David Goffin of Belgium earlier in the day. 

Also, Milos Raonic beat Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert to move into the 4th round of the tournament. The Canadian won the 1st 2 sets both at 6-4 and went on to take the 3rd at 7-6.

Elsewhere Alexander Zverev went through to the fourth round after beating Australian wild card entry Alex Bolt 6-3, 6-3, 6-2. The German fourth seed will next play Canada's Milos Raonic.

Borna Coric had to come from a set down to beat Filip Krajinovic of Serbia. The Croatian 11th seed won 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3.
