According to its constitution, the economy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is comprised of three sectors: state, cooperative and private.
A new interpretation of article 44 of the Constitution called for the reduction of state involvement in the economy and more participation by private and cooperative sectors. The new move is aimed at giving a new impetus to the economy and increasing people's involvement in major economic affairs.
