Religious democracy in Iran

The Iranian nation’s fight for freedom and escaping 20th century imperialism, led to two revolutions. The first was a constitutional revolution that was negated by the Pahlavid dictatorship that eventually followed, and the second was the 1979 revolution inspired by an Islamic ideology.

The revolutionaries based their system of governance on both democracy and religion. The idea was to secure freedom, while safeguarding Islamic values. In this episode, Interface will study Iran’s experience with religious democracy. The guests are Paul Halloran who is an investigative journalist from London and a familiar face in our Tehran studio, Mostafa Khosh-Cheshm.
