The world's tallest Christmas tree made with almost 100,000 plastic bottles was set up in the Mexican city of Aguascalientes, footage filmed on Saturday shows.

Students from more than 70 schools collected plastic bottles in the period of seven weeks, which were then used to create a record-breaking 27,84-metre (90-feet) Christmas tree. The plastic was collected in collaboration with the beverage company Coca-Cola.

A Guinness World Records official has verified the record for the world's tallest plastic bottle structure.
