2018, the bloodiest year of decade in Kashmir

Unrest has intensified over recent weeks in Indian- administered Kashmir between government forces and pro-independence fighters, who are seeking an end to the Indian rule in the disputed valley. At least seven people died when Indian forces opened fire at people protesting the killing of several pro independence fighters shot dead earlier in the day. 

Speaking to media during news conference on Dec. 16, Pakistani FM said 14 people were killed and 300 injured with many in critical condition.

With Saturday’s bloodshed, 2018 is now the deadliest year in the disputed region since 2008.
