Armenian Christians decorate cathedral for Christmas in Tehran

The historic and sacred site of Saint Sarkis Cathedral in central Tehran was decorated in preparation for Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Armenians, who make up the largest segment of the Christian population in Iran, gather at the cathedral every year to put up Christmas trees, wreaths and garlands.

Saint Sarkis Cathedral is an Armenian Apostolic church established in 1970. The church was named after Saint Sarkis the Warrior, a martyr and military saint in the Armenian Apostolic Church.
