US puts economic interests above justice: Activist

The United States pursues its own economic interests, ignoring Saudi Arabia's inhuman behavior in the region, especially the controversial murder of a journalist, an activist says.

Senior Republicans at US Congress have criticized Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for ordering the killing of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in the Turkish city of Istanbul on October 2.

Some senators emerging from a briefing with CIA Director Gina Haspel also blamed the Saudi de facto ruler for the murder despite US President Donald Trump’s unwavering support for the prince in the wake of his arms deal with Riyadh.

In an interview with Press TV on Wednesday, peace activist Ryan Dawson said that “the US opposition to this (the fact that the Saudi crown prince played a key role in the murder of Khashoggi) has never been based on evidence, it has been based on economic interest.”

“Well, they (the Saudis) lower the cost of production for oil, well they continue to buy US arms that is more of the concern for US business interest rather than interest in justice and whether or not Saudi Arabia killed a journalist.”
