US created terrorist groups in Middle East to further its imperial agenda: Writer
The United States created Daesh (ISIL) and all other terrorist groups in the Middle East region to further its imperial agenda, according to American political analyst Stephen Lendman.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Saturday the US is using Daesh as a pretext to maintain its military presence in Syria and views the Takfiri group as an ally to push regime change in the Arab country.
“The US State Department has declared that Daesh has not been completely defeated and that the main condition for its defeat is regime change in Syria and the withdrawal of any Iranian or pro-Iranian units from the country,” said Lavrov.
“This confirms my theory that the Americans view Daesh as an excuse for their presence in Syria and almost as an ally in the fight against the Syrian regime. In other words, the main task [for Washington] now is regime change, not defeating Daesh.”
Russia’s top diplomat said the main remaining hotbed of Daesh activity in Syria is now located on the east bank of the Euphrates River, where the US runs military bases.
Lendman told Press TV on Sunday that Lavrov “claims accurately, absolutely accurately, that ISIS, or Daesh, or ISIL, calling it any name you wish, is supported by Washington in Syria. He concentrated on Syria, what he should have said was that ISIS and all other terrorist groups in the region not only are supported by Washington, they were created by Washington.”
“And they are supported by the US, by the UK, by the Saudis, by Israel, by other NATO countries, by Turkey. These countries support terrorist scourge that they pretend to oppose. And what are they using them for? Washington was using them as imperial foot soldiers, to do America’s killings and dying for it, waging its wars of aggression in Syria, earlier in Iraq – Iraq is still in a mess – in Libya exactly the same thing, Afghanistan, Yemen, and who knows what other countries are on America’s target list, waging endless wars of aggression literally and have been going on especially extensively since 9/11 what I call the mother of all state-sponsored false flags,” he stated.
“Of course, Sergei Lavrov is absolutely right. America supports ISIS, America created ISIS. America is using these terrorist groups to further its imperial agenda. That’s what’s it is doing. That’s what it has been doing since all these wars erupted,” the analyst noted.
