US President Donald Trump has started calling himself “President T,” in the latest bid to highlight his self-congratulatory tone.

“So great that oil prices are falling (thank you President T),” Trump tweeted Sunday morning.

The nickname became trendy on social media with some users mocking the obvious reference, while others listing the possible ‘T’ references.

Trump's tweeting took no break as his Florida holiday stay was ending Sunday with a visit to his golf club for the fifth day in a row.

This is the first time the nickname has been introduced by Trump, who is known for nicknaming other people and generally those he disagrees with.

Some on social media took aim at Trump’s record of bad spelling, arguing the reason for the nickname is that he cannot spell Trump.

Others took the chance to question the credit Trump is claiming for the low process.

"President T... [gas] prices were around $2 a gallon when [he] was elected, and the falling prices are mostly a result of global recession fears, and consumption projections not meeting global output, and OPEC will probably cut production by 1 million barrels a day on Dec 6th," wrote one user.
