Iraqi burnt soldier

In 1990, 8 years after the end of its war with Iran, Iraq attacked Kuwait. That war was to cause great human suffering as well. During the war, Ken Jarecke took the horrific and controversial Persian Gulf photo of the burned Iraqi soldier. Even though, that year, Ken won the world photojournalism award and the British and other media showed the picture several times, but many ordinary people and media experts maintained that a picture this brutal should not have been published extensively.
