Chile: Protesters clash with police at rally over Mapuche man’s death

Clashes erupted as demonstrators protested over the police killing of a Mapuche man in Santiago on Thursday.

Protesters burned tyres and threw stones at police, while police fired tear gas and water cannons.

On Wednesday, 24-year-old Camilo Catrillanca was shot in the head during an operation against local car thieves.

Catrillanca was the grandson of a Mapuche indigenous leader.
