Rise of racism in digital world

Professors from Western Sydney University in Australia say, “Cyber racism can be just as damaging as face-to-face racism”. It has both emotional and physical impacts on victims it targets.

In 2015, due to the rise of online death threats, anti-racism lawyers in Australia were obliged to have police officers guard their houses overnight due to the fear of possible attacks. The stats are pretty bad in the US as well.

According to a Pew Research survey, in recent years, 1 in 4 black Americans faced online harassment just because of their race or ethnicity, and about 10 percent of Hispanic people were hit with racism. How would you respond to a racist comment on social media?
