UNHRC grills Saudi Arabia

Pressure against Saudi Arabia over the killing of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi has found new dimensions.

The UN human rights council in Geneva on Monday condemned the Saudis over what they described as the premediated murder of Khashoggi. It called for a thorough investigation into the case and urged the results to be made public. Member states also used the case to broaden its criticism of the Saudi rights record. They specifically brought Riyadh’s war on Yemen into the spotlight.
