US Iran policy failure

The Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the US has been defeated in 40 years of its challenge with Iran. Addressing thousands of students in Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei said Washington has hatched numerous plots against Iran over the past four decades. He said the US military confrontation and its economic and psychological warfare are part of such plots against the Islamic Republic. The Leader noted that despite such American measures, Washington failed to reach its goal of dominating Iran. Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the United States’ economic and military power is on the decline, adding the country is much weaker than what it was 40 years ago.

Russia condemns US sanctions on Iran

Russia has strongly condemned the United States for re-imposing sanctions on Iran, which were lifted under the 2015 nuclear deal. In a statement, the Russian foreign ministry said the US move is a blow to efforts by other signatories to the deal that want to preserve it. The ministry also said, Russia and other world countries will reject any anti-Iran measures by the US that harm third nations, as long as they are NOT approved by the UN Security Council. Moscow pledged to do whatever it can to preserve and expand trade and economic cooperation with Iran, despite US sanctions. The Russian statement also blasted the US for scrapping its international obligations by adopting policies that undermine nuclear non-proliferation efforts worldwide.

Saudi Yemen airstrikes

There seems to be no let-up in Saudi airstrikes on impoverished Yemeni people. Saudi warplanes have conducted dozens of new attacks on Hudaydah province. More than 50 raids targeted Hali district and at least eight air attacks struck the district of Dorihami. There were no immediate reports of possible casualties or damage. Just a day ago, Saudi jets pounded Sana’a International Airport and an adjoining airbase. Meanwhile, the United States has called for a swift cessation of hostilities in Yemen, urging all parties involved in the conflict to take part in the UN-led peace talks within the next 30 days. Saudi Arabia has been bombing Yemen since March 2015. The aggression has left over 15,000 Yemenis dead, many of them women and children.

US Afghanistan fatality

A US soldier has been killed and another wounded in Afghanistan in a suspected case of insider attack. The attack, which is also known as green-on-blue, was carried out in the capital Kabul by a member of Afghan security forces. The identity of the slain soldier has been withheld pending notification of his relatives. The United States, backed by NATO, has kept its military presence in Afghanistan since its 2001 invasion of the country. The war has killed over 3,550 NATO troops since then. Most of the deaths are American.

US Yemen truce offer

Yemen's Ansarullah movement has called the US mediation efforts to end the war on Yemen mere lies, saying Washington continues its all-out support for Saudi invaders. Ansarullah spokesman Mohammed Abdulsalam said the US call for truce is aimed at escalating military aggression in Yemen, and that it has extensively provided military build-up in Yemen’s west coast. Abdulsalam said the US seeks to lessen international pressure over the human suffering in the war-torn country. He said the Saudis have lost the war in every front, and that the Yemenis’ resistance will soon end up in victory. The Ansarullah spokesman stressed that Washington needs to end its arms supply to Saudi Arabia and stop refueling Saudi warplanes over Yemen before making any calls for peace talks in the war-ravaged country.
