Swiss Indoors: Federer beats Copil 7-6, 6-4 to win title

Swiss maestro Roger Federer has claimed his 99th career ATP title by beating the Romanian qualifier Marius Copil in straight sets in the Swiss Indoors final at Basel.

The inspired Romanian broke Federer’s serve early into the match on Sunday but the Swiss recovered and forced a tie-break which he ultimately took.

Copil didn’t give up there, he started the 2nd set stronger and raced into a 3-love lead, but Federer made his experience count as he fought back and broke serve before taking the set 6-4 and closing the victory in an hour and 34 minutes.

The win secured Federer the 9th title at his home event.
