Jose Luis Morales put Levante ahead in the 7th minute, after a defensive slip from Rafael Varane. Roger Marti doubled the lead in the 13th minute from the penalty spot, after a handball by Varane. The spot-kick was eventually awarded, after consultation with the video assistant referee.

Madrid created a number of chances down the other end, and even hit the woodwork 3 times, before Marcelo smashed into the net, midway through the 2nd half. With the loss, Los Blancos are 5th in the La Liga standings.
