Novak Djokovic cruises past Jeremy Chardy at Shanghai Masters

Novak Djokovic of Serbia has advanced to the 3rd round of the Shanghai Masters after a-straight-sets victory over France’s Jeremy Chardy.

The Serbian ace who is bidding for his 4rth title at the tournament, was dominant on serve, and took 14 of his 17 1st-service points to win the opener 6-3.

He kept his Composure in the 2nd set, winning it 7-5 to wrap up the victory after an hour and 23 minutes. Next up for Djoko is Italy’s Marco Chekinato or South Korea's Hyeon Chung.

Meanwhile, Dominic Thiem of Austria crashed out of the tournament after losing to Australia's Matthew Ebden in the 2nd round.

The 6th seeded Austrian dropped the opening set 6-4, after firing into the net. Thiem battled back in the 2nd set, taking it 7-6 in the tie-break to force a decider.

In the decider, Ebden took control to win it 6-4 again and earn his quarter final clash against Germany’s Peter Gojowczyk.

Nicolas Jarry of Chile battled back from a set down to beat Croatia’s Marin Cilic in the 2nd round of the Shanghai Masters.

World No. 6 grabbed the 1st set with a comfortable 6-2 victory before facing resilience from the Chilean, who won the next 2-sets, 7-6 and 7-5. Jarry eraned his 3rd round spot after 2 hours and 12 minutes.
