Iraq's new President Barham Saleh has named veteran politician Adel Abdul Mahdi as prime minister-designate, ending months of political deadlock. Abdul Mahdi has now been asked to form a government within a month. The new prime minister will have to oversee the reconstruction of Iraq following its victory against foreign-backed terrorism.
