A Modest proposal: to solve the Palestine-Israel conflict by Karl Sabbagh (March 2018)

The search for a solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict is never-ending. Dispossession of Palestinians from their own historic lands, continues to limit the goal of peace and prosperity in the region. In his latest book, Karl Sabbagh, a British-Palestinian writer, examines the background and proposes more radical thought, though he calls it “A Modest Proposal”. This book inquires the history and plight of the Palestinians, evaluates the obstacles to a two-state solution but Can Sabbagh’s dream of a single-state, where Israelis and Palestinians live in prosperous, peaceful, democratic harmony have the slightest hope of being taken seriously? As Sir Iain Chalmers mentions “The establishment of a settler colonial state in all of historic Palestine has led to the oppression of 6 million Palestinians. If further injustices are to be avoided, imaginative proposals are needed to show how the Israeli and Palestinian peoples can share the land as citizens of a single state. Karl Sabbagh's inspiring book outlines some of the practical steps needed if progress is to be made from the current impasse towards an equitable future for both peoples.”
