As Palestinians are mourning the deaths of two teenagers shot by Israeli forces during protests along the border between the besieged Gaza Strip and occupied territories, video footage has surfaced appearing to show Israeli troops shooting a Palestinian boy at a time when he posed no obvious threat.

In the video, 16-year-old Ahmad Misbah Abu Toyour is standing near the border fence that separates the impoverished enclave from the Israeli-usurped lands as he is taking part in “The Great March of Return” protests.

Toyour throws a stone at Israeli forces, and a shot rings out and he falls to the ground obviously in a great deal of pain.

The Palestinian teenager succumbed to his gunshot wounds at the European Hospital in the city of Khan Yunis, located about 25 kilometers south of Gaza City, on Saturday morning.

Nearly 175 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces ever since anti-occupation protest rallies began in the Gaza Strip on March 30. A total of 19,139 Palestinians have also sustained injuries.

The Gaza clashes reached their peak on May 14, on the eve of the 70th anniversary of Nakba Day (Day of Catastrophe), which coincided this year with the US embassy relocation from Tel Aviv to occupied East Jerusalem al-Quds.

On June 13, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution, sponsored by Turkey and Algeria, condemning Israel for Palestinian civilian deaths in the Gaza Strip.

The resolution, which had been put forward on behalf of Arab and Muslim countries, garnered a strong majority of 120 votes in the 193-member assembly, with 8 votes against and 45 abstentions.

The resolution called on UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to make proposals within 60 days “on ways and means for ensuring the safety, protection, and well-being of the Palestinian civilian population under Israeli occupation,” including “recommendations regarding an international protection mechanism.”

It also called for “immediate steps towards ending the closure and the restrictions imposed by Israel on movement and access into and out of the Gaza Strip.”

Israeli forces repeatedly open fire at Gazan farmers

Meanwhile, Israeli military forces have opened indiscriminate fire on Palestinian farmers east of Khan Yunis for unknown reasons.

There were no immediate reports of casualties among the Palestinians.

Israel soldiers attacked 26 Palestinian journalists in August

Separately, Palestine’s official news agency WAFA says Israeli forces have attacked 26 journalists and members of the press in occupied territories in the month of August.

It said that Israeli violations against journalists included firing rubber-coated bullets and teargas canisters at them, in addition to physical beating and detention.

The report further noted that 13 journalists were assaulted by Israeli troopers, but were not injured.

Moreover, Israeli soldiers prevented journalists from doing their work either by turning them away by force or holding them for several hours.
