Earthquake of 6.4 magnitude strikes southern Philippines

A 6.4-magnitude quake has hit 250km from Davao City in Mindanao, the Philippines.

The quake's epicenter was located in Manay, Davao Oriental, and was 28 kilometers deep, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

At least one shopping mall in the city center was closed after the quake. "A lot of people wanted to go back inside but the security guards prohibited it," Ivette Ashleigh Chatto, who was at Gaisano Mall, told Reuters.

Power outages were also reported in the town of Baganga and the city of Mati. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the quake.
