Alireza Rezadad, the secretary of the 31st edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth, addresses a press conference in Isfahan, Iran.

Iran hosts the 31st edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Isfahan Province in cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

Alireza Rezadad, the secretary of this edition of the festival, said the event, which started on Tuesday and will last until September 5, has been highly welcomed by domestic and international filmmakers.

Speaking in a press conference attended by several officials in Isfahan, Rezadad said the festival is seeking to make the youth familiar with international cinema.

Rezadad added that UNICEF is providing the event with “educational programs.”

He said UNICEF will cover parts of the festival’s expenses, adding five workshops would be held in the international section of the festival, which would mainly focus on safeguarding the children’s psychological security.

Selected films of France’s International Film Festival (Festimaj), Berlin International Short Film Festival (Interfilm) and a pair of Japanese filmmaker and artist Hayao Miyazaki’s animations will be screened in the festival.
