Asian Games 2018: Iran wins one more gold, two more bronzes

In the Asian Games 2018, Team Iran has grabbed one more gold, and two bronze medals on the 2nd day of the competition. 

The Iranian team now stands on the sixth place in the total medal count with three golds, two silvers, and three bronzes. China, Japan, and South Korea are on top of the table.

Wrestling:

Freestyle wrestler Parviz Hadi pocketed another gold medal in the 125-kilogram weight category after defeating his Chinese opponent 7-0 in the final.

Hadi, previously defeated opponents from India, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to reach the final. Iran’s freestyle wrestling team had grabbed 2 golds and a bronze medal earlier on the first day of the event.

Football:

Iran’s football team has topped group F of the Asian Games, despite their 2-0 defeat against Myanmar. The first half finished scoreless, but Myanmar scored in the 55th and 69th minutes.

In the match, Iran U-23 national team coach Zlatko Kranjcar did not play five of the players who had competed in the first two Group F matches.

Although all teams in this group finished with 4 points, Iran stayed at the top due to goal difference. Iran will play against South Korea on the Thursday in the knockout stages. 

Fencing:

Ali Esmaeilzadeh Pakdaman won a bronze medal in Men's Sabre Individual category.

Taekwondo:

Kourosh Bakhtiyar and Marjan Salahshouri pocketed two silver medals for the Iranian squad and Farzan Ashourzadeh Fallah grabbed a bronze in the Men -58 kg weight group.

Kabaddi:

Iran’s Kabaddi team have stunned Pakistan 36-20, in their 3rd match at the group stage, which was the 3rd victory of the Iranians. Earlier, they defeated South Korea and Japan. Iran will meet Chinese Taipei on Tuesday.
