Iranian karatekas finish third at 5th ASPAC Hayashi-ha International Karate Championships

Iranian karate practitioners have put in fine performances at the fifth edition of Asia Pacific (ASPAC) Hayashi-ha International Karate Championships, and earned 18 medals, including six gold ones, to claim the third spot overall.

The Malaysian karate team was named the top-ranked squad. Indonesians took the second place.

Iran’s Parham Pargar showed great punching, knee strikes as well as open-hand techniques in the final contest of the male kumite 10-11 age bracket in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur, and clinched the gold medal.

Moreover, Tina Fattahi received an individual kata gold medal in the 10-11 age group.

Iran women's cadet kata team, comprised of Fattahi, Yekta Davari and Melika Soltani, finished second and received a silver medal. 

The fifth edition of ASPAC Hayashi-ha International Karate Championships started on August 9, and finished on August 12, 2018.

The tournament attracted dozens of male and female karate practitioners from 16 countries, including Australia, India, Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines and Vietnam.
