The United States is undermining itself by bullying countries around the world to implement unilateral American sanctions on Iran, says a commentator, stressing that sovereign countries do not like to be dictated to.

“The attempt to prevent Iran from selling oil to any country in the world will not be supported by Russia, China, and India and other countries,” Edward Corrigan, an international human rights lawyer, told Press TV on Thursday.

“Countries are not going to like to be bullied or told what to do, and the Americans are trying to... impose their law on countries all around the world,” Corrigan said, adding that that would discredit the US and its national currency, the dollar, in the long run.

The European Union, China, Russia, and Turkey, among others, have pledged to stand against unilateral American sanctions against Iran.
