Iranian team finishes third at 2018 WRF Junior & U23 World Rafting Championships

The Iran women’s national under-19 rafting team has delivered acceptable performances during the 2018 World Rafting Federation (WRF) Junior & U23 World Rafting Championships, and ranked third overall at the end of the high-status international event.

The young Iranian sportswomen had earlier finished vice champion in the RX discipline and took home a silver medal, the Islamic Republic of Iran Canoeing, Rowing & Sailing Federation website reported on Tuesday.

The 2018 WRF Junior & U23 World Rafting Championships kicked off in Italy on July 21, and finished on July 24, 2018.

Some 40 teams from various world countries, including Albania, Armenia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Iran, Italy, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine, competed in the three World Rafting Federation disciplines: downriver, slalom and RX on the Dora Baltea river. 

Villeneuve hosted downriver contests, while slalom and RX competitions were held in Ivrea.
