Israeli warplanes have carried out new airstrikes on different parts of the besieged Gaza Strip. Israeli fighter jets hit several positions in Gaza. Damascus slams US

Syria has slammed the US-led coalition’s recent killing of civilians, accusing it of supporting terror groups and prolonging the conflict. The Syrian Foreign Ministry was referring to the US-led coalition’s Friday airstrikes that killed at least 30 civilians in Dayr al-Zawr province. It also condemned crimes committed by the coalition as unjustifiable. The Foreign Ministry’s remarks came in a letter sent to the United Nations chief and the head of the UN Security Council.

Deadly demos in Iraq

Violent protests in several parts of Iraq have left at least two people dead. The demonstrators are outraged over rising living costs among other issues. Authorities in the province of Maysan say one protester was killed and 15 others were wounded in the city of Amarah. The demonstrators were reportedly trying to storm the governor’s office. Elsewhere in the province of Dhi Qar, 25 security members were injured as they tried to disperse crowds in Nasiriyah, the provincial capital. A similar rally was held in the city of Najaf. Earlier on Friday, security forces killed one protester in the city of Basra while Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi was on an official visit there. Basra residents have warned of more protests if their demands are not met.

Anti-Trump protests

US President Donald Trump has arrived in Scotland amid protests after paying an official visit to London. The US president and his wife are staying at the Trump-owned Turnberry property in South Ayrshire. Around 2,000 people held an anti-Trump rally in Glasgow before his arrival in Scotland. They slammed Trump for what they called his racist policies. Earlier, tens of thousands of Londoners took to the streets to vent their anger at his trip to the UK.

UN migration pact

The United Nations member states have agreed on the draft of a global migration pact despite US boycott and threat of pullout by Hungary. The pact is reportedly the first international document on managing migration. It lays out the objectives to facilitate legal migration and better manage the increasing flow of migrants worldwide. The Hungarian foreign minister, however, described the agreement as a threat to his country’s national stability. Peter Szijjarto said migrants should not have the right to violate a series of borders to reach wherever they want. Szijjarto added that the Hungarian government will decide on Wednesday whether to quit from the pact. The United States withdrew from negotiations on the agreement last December. Washington described some provisions as inconsistent with US immigration and refugee policies.

Ex-Pakistani PM arrested

The public’s reaction was lackluster despite Sharif’s desperate attempt to show his popularity ahead of national elections later this month.

Iran nuclear deal

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action: A historic agreement on the Iranian nuclear program. Iran signed the deal in 2015 with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany. But less than three years on, the US pulled out of the deal with President Donald Trump calling it terrible. The remaining parties say they’ll stay committed. Iran, however, insists that it needs guarantees to remain in the accord.

Pakistan deadly attack

Pakistani officials say a bomb attack has killed at least 128 people in an election rally in the country’s Balochistan province. Officials say Siraj Raisani, a prominent local politician running for a provincial seat, is among the victims. The explosion near the provincial capital Quetta also left scores of others wounded. The Daesh terror group has claimed responsibility for the attack which has been described as the deadliest in Pakistan in over a year. Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi has condemned the massacre. Qassemi offered condolences to the families of the ‎victims as well as the Pakistani people and government.
