Iranian boxers have managed to collect three medals, including one silver, at the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament.

On Friday and the final day of the competitions in the Thai capital city of Bangkok, Sajjad Kazemzadeh lost to a contestant from South Korea in the final bout of the 69-kilogram, and received the silver medal.

Kazemzadeh had earlier defeated opponents from Japan, Thailand and Kazakhstan to find a place in the finale.

Omid Ahmadisafa and Shahin Mousavi also scooped two bronze medals in the 49-kilogram and 75-kilogram weight divisions respectively.

The Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament opened on June 28, and finished on July 6, 2018.

It reportedly celebrated the coronation of the King Rama X of Thailand, and was a top preparation event for the 2018 Asian Games – officially known as the 18th Asian Games and also known as Jakarta Palembang 2018.

The Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament was previously known as the King’s Cup, and the first edition was held in 1975.

The competitions were held in seven men's weight classes from the light flyweight (49-kilogram) up to the middleweight (75-kilogram).

Each national boxing federation could bring one boxer in each weight category. Money prizes were presented for the individual boxers and also for the best three teams.
